    1. [HRT] Bishops Stortford look-up
    2. Jane Greenfield
    3. Is there anyone on the list who would be willing look up something for me in a trade directory sometime between 1855 and 1865 in Bishop's Stortford ? I have tried and tried to get on the historical directories website to look it up for myself but just cannot get access. Many thanks for your help. Jane

An opera singer appearing in a Show in London - I found this quite surprising. Another John Poskitt, a carter, was fined 1/- at the Hull Police Court on the 29th March 1867. This was for leaving his horse and cart without anyone in charge. No yellow lines in the road or speed cameras then but things don't really change! Difficult at the moment to know if these Johns are mine. there are some more 400 or so similar yet to look at! Maggie

    3. Hi Pearl, You asked > - are you related to the Perkins of Herts No, I am sorry I'm not related to any Herts Perkins. My late husband's Perkins family came from Islington. It was not until we were in our late thirties that we discovered that he had been adopted. This cleared up a lot of anomalies we had been told. Liars should have good memories! Luckily we were able to trace and meet his natural mother and discovered his surname was originally HAZEL. Maggie.

    1. [HRT] WEATHERLEY, Hatfield & HALE, Ware
    2. Hi everyone, I'm new to the list and thought I'd start with the "I should be so lucky" question - Does anyone on the list have knowledge of the Weatherley family in Hatfield? The people I'm most interested in lived there in the late 1800s and early 1900s, however the family line goes back at least to 1800 in the area. Some family members also set up house in Northaw, and there seems to be a connection with Weatherleys in Edmonton/Enfield, Middlesex. I'm also interested in the Hale family who lived in Ware around 1880, one of whom married into the Weatherley family in 1901. Any information would be much appreciated. Lisa

    3. Hi Chris You will also find spellings PHYPERS, PHYPURS and PHYPOURS (there's some in my wife's family, her family all being from north-east Hertfordshire) so it may be worth searching for those too. It's not a particularly common name by any accounts. Just out of interest, there was a lad called VIPERS in my form at school (Hoddesdon - late 1970s) and as far as I am aware there are still some PHYPERS living just up the road from me, in Hertford Heath. 2. Doug & Gloria Schultz
    3. Hello Listers, I am new to this list and have found most of my ancestors on the Pirton website, however, I am still looking for the children and their families of Charles Males and Rhoda Weedon who were married in Pirton on 23.2.1840. The names of their children were Sarah, Underwood, Rachel (my gt gt grandmother) William, Charles, George, Ann, James, Jane and Mary. I have some information on Sarah, William, Charles, George and Mary, I have no information on their children. Rachel's daughter Sarah my gt grandmother came with her son John and his family to New Zealand where she died at the age of 91. Her sister Elizabeth I have until the 1891 census and then I loose her. I guess she must have married. Her younger sister Clara I can follow until the 1901 census has her in Islington, London with her husband Thomas Walker and children. Is there anyone who knows or is related to this family, as I would love to hear from you. Many thanks Gloria New Zealand
