I have been carrying out a one name study over the last two years and have been storing the information as a huge family tree chart rather than in traditional genealogy software (I am an architect with access to CAD software and huge plotters so these big charts were a relatively easy thing to do). Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) the tree is now so huge that it covers an entire wall. Nonetheless, I am very attached to having a comprehensive chart to look at - I find it much easier to keep track of so many individuals (nearly 1000) if I can see it in pictorial form. I have a copy of the Generations Grande Suite with Easytree and I have begun transferring my research into this form (not least so that it can be shared as GEDCOM and published on the net). The program is easy to use but it won't produce charts that show all the individuals with all the dates and sources etc. which is annoying when I can print at anything up to six feet across. Whilst realising that it may be frowned upon to discuss or appraise commercial products on the list, could I ask list members to share their experiences of genealogy software so I don't have to buy the entire shelf of programs to find the one with the best graphical output (off-list if appropriate). Many thanks, David Matthews
