Dear List, Thanks to Diane Johansen it seems that I can eliminate the possibility that the James Meredith and Mary Cox who were married in Monnington in 1812 are my ancestors. Mary Cox was baptised in Monnington, she was the illegitimate daughter of Catherine Watkins who subsequently married a Cox. This therefore only leaves the marriage in Hereford in 1811 of James Meredith and Mary Price. If these are my ancestors (who were in Brilley by 1822 when my ancestor Margaret was baptized) then a Mary Price should have been born in Abbeydore (or that area) sometime in the early 1780's (even though Mary's 1851 census age indicates a d/o/b 1778). I wonder how an Abbeydore girl ended up getting married in Hereford and why she and her husband then moved to Brilley? As for James Meredith's origins it now seems that I haven't a cat in hell's chance of finding his baptism/parentage/ancestry without a birthplace from the census (he died pre-1851). I might be a bit luckier with Mary Price though! Any! suggestions? Best wishes James Phillips-Evans
