Just a note to mention the coincidences that seem to occur in genealogy. I've been following James' search for his Meredith ancestors. (see below). He has found that Mary Cox was the illegitimate daughter of Catherine Watkins who later married a Cox. After searching with Catherine's married name I feel sure that she is a sister to Hannah Watkins Price my gr. gr. grandmother. Now that James has supplied her married name, perhaps I can follow her line down the years. Remember: its always a good thing to send any general (names and dates) info to the list as well as to the person who queried. Thanks James for inadvertently sending me a new lead. Mary Cox was baptised in Monnington, she was the illegitimate daughter of Catherine Watkins who subsequently married a Cox. This therefore only leaves the marriage in Hereford in 1811 of James Meredith and Mary Price. If these are my ancestors (who were in Brilley by 1822 when my ancestor Margaret was baptized) then a Mary Price should have been born in Abbeydore (or that area) sometime in the early 1780's (even though Mary's 1851 census age indicates a d/o/b 1778). I wonder how an Abbeydore girl ended up getting married in Hereford and why she and her husband then moved to Brilley? As for James Meredith's origins it now seems that I haven't a cat in hell's chance of finding his baptism/parentage/ancestry without a birthplace from the census (he died pre-1851). I might be a bit luckier with Mary Price though!
