As there has been an interest in my WATKINS-COX ancestry I am outlining a quick resumee of the line in case anyone can link: James WATKINS (b.?) mar. Joan GWILLIM l750 Monnington on Wye Parents to nine children. Eldest daughter Susanna (b.l750) mar. 1773 to Thos. WATKINS of Staunton upon Wye. Youngest daughter, Catharine, (b. l765) mar. Thomas COX in Dec.l788 at Monnington. (Thomas was possibly born l763 at Credenhill) Catharine baptised an illeg. daughter, Mary WATKINS, Jan. l788. Did Mary adopt the COX name and marry as Mary "COX" to James MEREDITH in l8l2? After her marriage Catharine and Thomas had nine known children. Their eldest son Thomas (b.l790) mar. Mary WATKINS in l823. Their fourth son William (b.l805) mar. Mary LEWIS, d/o David LEWIS of Madley in l827. After William's early death, Mary remarried Jonathan BEDFORD, s/o John BEDFORD. Their fifth son John (b.l808) mar. Elizabeth JONES at Byford Church in l835 when beth were aged l8. Their youngest daughter, Anne (b.l8l0) married William WILLIAMS in l837 at Monnington. William was born Burghill l811. Witnesses Benjamin MOSELEY and Catherine MEREDITH* Anne had a sister Catharine*, bap. l795 so perhaps she, too, married a MEREDITH? Other names linked to this family by marriage: GILBERT, CLARK, BUTLER, COOKS, TRAYLOR Regards Diane Johansen
