I am trying to track down information on a couple: William Gladwin (or Gladding) and Jane Caffold. They were both illiterate, which meant that the spelling of William's surname was inconsistent: George has the surname Gladding on his birth certificate, although he was known as Gladwin. His 1881 census return suggests he was born around 1828 in Presteign and Jane was born around 1839 in Mortisford. They had at least 5 children: Duncan Elliot
