    3. Was there a requirement that a male be the informant on death certificates? In recent ones received for deaths from 1867 to 1910, all informants were males, even if the individual had a surviving widow in the home. Ruth Ann United States

    3. I doubt that this is the case as I have several death certificates 1855 to 1900 which have female informants, in one case a niece. Stephen J.
