Thanks to Tony of Australia for his replies to recent message about Thomas John MEREDITH, christened/baptized in December 1828 in Clodock, Herefordshire, England. The clues he provided may prove helpful in continuing research on this family. Just wish individuals (or the informants) would give consistent details from one census to another! It appears to me that some of the records below may refer to the same individual, but each time a different place of birth is given! Because of this, do you have suggestions of additional things to do to determine if any of these are indeed the individual I am seeking? Plus, do you have details on any of these that could eliminate them from consideration? 1841 census-- a. His parents and some siblings were at Clyro, Radnorshire, Wales. b. A deceased brother had been living in Hay, Breconshire, Wales with his family. c. Another brother was living in Glamorganshire, Wales with his wife and young daughters. d. Do not know where Thomas John MEREDITH was at this time, but he would have been about 12 or 13 years old. 1851 census a. Llangattock, Breconshire, Wales shows a Thomas MEREDITH, lodger, age 3, (born about 1848) at Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, Wales. Might this be a son of Thomas John MEREDITH (who had one brother born in Abergavenny)? b. Have not yet found Thomas John MEREDITH, about 22 or 23 years old, on this census. Have not yet been successful in finding a marriage record for Thomas John MEREDITH. 1861 census a. Ystraddyfodwg, Glamorgan, Wales shows a Thomas MEREDITH, age 33, (born about 1828) at Hay, Breconshire, Wales. b. Llangattock, Breconshire, Wales shows a Thomas MEREDITH, born about 1829 at Llanvens, Herefordshire, England; his wife Elizabeth MEREDITH, born about 1824 in Berkley, Gloucestershire, England; a lodger Edmond MEREDITH, born about 1821 in Usk, Monmouthshire, Wales (have not yet come upon an Edmond MEREDITH in our family of ancestors); a nephew Lewis MEREDITH, born about 1840 in Bremen, Llanelly. 1871 census--on Mill Street, Llangattock, Breconshire, Wales shows a Thomas MEREDITH, born about 1828 in Cluddock, Herefordshire, Wales with wife Elizabeth MEREDITH, born about 1826 in Little Dean, Gloucestershire, England, and a servant girl. 1881 census--at number 10 Woodside Road in Civil Parish Flaxley, Gloucestershire, England, was a Thomas MEREDITH, beerhouse keeper, age 51, (born about 1830) at Littledean Hill (East Dean), Gloucestershire, England; wife Elizth.
