Hi Bob, To clarify, you think I should find the marriage first, and the fathers name WILL be on it? Then I should look for the baptism with a matching father's name. Marston and Lyonshall are only about 2km apart so the birthplace is roughly in agreeance (if it was meant to be Lyonshall, not Lionshall). Should I disregard Hampshire altogether? As far as birth year goes, her first known child was born circa 1837 and her last child was born in 1849, so anytime 1804-1822 is possible. Do you think I should check this full range rather than just circa 1810? Not sure I can wave any magic wand. Yes I've had ancestors give 5 or 6 different birthplaces, in 4 different coutnies. The town given sometimes does not match the county given. Oh and birthdates can vary by 10 years! Sometimes you need to weigh up and list all the options. See if they mostly agree. Obviously if you can find the wedding, you will have father's name which should be a bid help. Bob
