    3. Hello Lynn and Alex, My Grandmother Lily Louisa MELLINGS born 14th August 1889 at Broome near Hopesay Shropshire, was a Servant and then became a Ladies Maid at Berrington Hall.A tale existed in the family that an exiled related member of the Russian Royal Family was living their and my Mother had this Lady as a Godmother and her name of Nina from her.We did have a silver Christening cup with her initials on it at one time.No substantiating evidence for the Lady has been found. We believe their was also a residence in the Tenbury Wells area involved and also possibly Croft Castle which I have also visited. She was married at Abergavenny,Monmouthshire in 1919,so it is the time period before then she was their.Approximately 1901-1919 could have been her years as a Servant. I arranged a visit to the National Trust property of Berrington Hall for my Mum,her Brother my Sister and myself back some time ago.We had a special tour down below stairs through the Servants area's.Before our specially arranged visit I had informed them of our background involvement. They were unable to provide any information on the Servants details.Since then a very helpful gentleman on this list Mr Mike Bourne has visited Berrington Hall on my behalf to try and find some facts but in spite of his very kind help nothing was able to be found. He dealt with the person who would have known if anything did exist. Subsequently at a Family History Fair,I had the suggestion made to me by Hereford Record Office that the only other course of action was to check the Electoral Rolls for Berrington Hall for this period but I wonder if my Grandmother would have been too young to appear on these? Sorry I can be no more helpful, Malcolm Brinkworth in Wales
