Hello Listers, Can anyone help me with the more recent history of Hazle Mill near Ledbury. It was a corn mill. Mentioned in the Domesday Book. I know the river Leadon has been diverted. I know that it is a historic site listed in Historic Herefordshire On Line. But is there still any building, weir, wheel etc left and how could I get a photo of it? My G G Grandmother was left a young widow in March 1824 with three small children, 7, 5 & 2 perhaps then living in Pauntley (not sure), husband's burial was in Redmarley where they came from. Enquiring because I think she just might have become Mrs Davis the miller's wife. I'm equally unsure but I think the 5 yr old above became in due course the wife of her stepbrother William Davis - is that permitted? David in springlike Auckland NZ
Hello David I think I have found the mill - English Heritage have images of all listed buildings up to a certain date. I have found HAZEL Farmhouse, a grade II listed Granary on the following webpage http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/search/details.aspx?pid=1&id=152497 It may be worth searching the site in case there are any other images hope this helps regards Fiona ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Daniell" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, September 02, 2006 10:25 AM Subject: [HEF] DAVIS family HAZLE MILL nr Ledbury early 19th century > Hello Listers, > > Can anyone help me with the more recent history of Hazle Mill near > Ledbury. > It was a corn mill. Hi David I've come late to your query and you seem to have had quite a few replies. If you are still looking for an up to date picture, my new house is "just around the corner" so I would be happy to try and get one for you. Kind regards Polly ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Daniell" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, September 02, 2006 10:25 AM Subject: [HEF] DAVIS family HAZLE MILL nr Ledbury early 19th century Hello Listers, Can anyone help me with the more recent history of Hazle Mill near Ledbury.
