Hi Listers, It would be a huge step forward if SKS would view the EXACT parish register of this marriage. ROBERT CATCHPOLE mar. MARY MORGAN, 19 FEB 1798, All Saints, Hereford, Hereford. I saw this on IGI Batch # M145941. No other 'Catchpole' on this batch. The name 'Catchpole' not seen in HEF or WOR. And 'Allbut' not often seen in HEF. Tons of Allbut in WOR. I would be so happy to find Robert's age and possibly where he is from, witnesses and maybe even his occupation. ' ============================================================ But the person I am really after is his possible sister, MARTHA CATCHPOLE. She *may* be the one who married JOSEPH ALLBUT of Kidderminster, WOR. But no marriage can be found --so I am at a standstill. On LDS patron submitted Batch # 8005130, I found the marriage of: MARTHA CATCHPOLE to William NUNN, 18 Jan 1798, in Great Barton, Suffolk Two children born before William NUNN died on 20 NOV 1800 in Suffolk. Little William on June 1798, and newborn George in Sep 1800. Martha & William parents of both. On this patron sub. batch, it shows that both a Martha and a Robert were children of Thomas Catchpole & Ann of Great Barton, Suffolk. Robert Catchpole chr. 05 JAN 1759 Martha Catchpole chr 08 MAR 1767 ========================================================= The problem of getting Martha Catchpole from Suffolk to Worcester to start having children in Kidderminster with JOSEPH ALLBUT by 1803 may be answered by her brother Robert's marriage in Hereford, and by her new status as widow with 2 babes. [As an interesting aside, if this Martha is indeed my connection, her son JOSEPH ALLBUT is the schoolmaster in Clifford HEF from about 1838 to mid 1850s. And when Joseph married for a third time, it was in Hereford.] The name ALLBUT is so tortured that it comes through in the records often as 'Allbert' --and many other variations. So it seems logical to be looking for a marriage between MARTHA NUNN and JOSEPH ???? sometime between late 1800 and 1803. ============================================================ Here are the children born to Joseph & Martha in Kidderminster WOR, Batch#C043951 Mary Albott born 15 Mar 1803 chr. 11 Apr 1803 Catherine Halbott chr. 15 Apr 1805 Joseph Albutt GGgrandfather, schoolmaster. chr 25 Dec 1806 William Allbut born 24 Dec 1808 chr. 15 Jan 1809 Mary Catchpole Allbutt chr. 29 Mar 1811 Martha Allbutt [died 02 Sep 1816] chr 20 June 1813 The mother Martha Allbutt died in June 1816 [age stated as 42 <1774.]. Less than three months later, 3 year old Martha Allbutt also died. Mother Martha's age at death doesn't quite match the age of the Martha Catchpole from Great Barton said to be born 1767. But not far off ! Possible that husband Joseph did not know exactly. The other somewhat unusual thing is that Martha seemed not to name any children after her parents, Thomas and Ann. ============================================================ All adventures have a starting point which is why I'm asking for a look at the record of ROBERT CATCHPOLE's marriage to Mary MORGAN in Feb 1798 at All Saints in Hereford. Many thanks to anyone who has read this far !! Best wishes to all, Kitty Watkins in St. Louis, Missouri PS. I have never been sure how far is it from Hereford to Kidderminster.
