Hi everyone I am interested in the parents of THOMAS THOMAS b 1796ish and ANN JENKINS b 1806 ish. They were both born at CLODOCK and married there on 10 November 1829. As there is more than one TT b in Clodock about that time eg 26.10.1796 parents Samuel and ? 5.6.1796 parents Simon and Elizabeth and probably more. I think Samuel was the father as Samuel appears in the next 3 generations etc.his wife may have been CELIA PHILLIPS. Ann JENKINS mother given as JENKINS. One of their children GEORGE b 1835 was in Kentchurch for 1881 census anything on this part of the family would be welcome as well as the parents of TT and AJ. I have details from then to present thanks to previous help from this site. Thank you for your help. Ken Thomas
Yes I know Grosmont is in Mon. but it is so close to border that it interweaves with Hef. on the other side of the road. familysearch.com tells me that a Hugh Phillips was born Grosmont "about" 1749 . That would fit my 5yr. brick-wall to find antecedents of Hugh Phillips married at Ewyas Harold Feb 1768 to Mary Phillips (maybe a cousin) b 1750 Llancillio .Her father was [wait for it ] a Mr.Hugh Phillips ! Can anyone add extra details of any birth of a Hugh Phillips at Grosmont around 1749? Thanks. Bryan Phillips

Hi Bryan, I am a new member of this group my main interests are in Monmouthshire and border. Try....... [email protected] Mike John the list owner has done a huge amount with transcripts of a lot of parishes, wills etc. Here is some Phillips info., very general, from the area: Could Llancillio .......I do not know it.......be Llantillio as in Llantillio Crosseny? If so the site above has some transcripts which might be useful. I have Phillips in my line at Llangattock Vibon Avel near Llantillio C. and there seems much movement between Skenfrith and these three places. One of the members of this group has done a huge amount of work on the Phillips line ( of course my Jane Phillips is missing!!!!!!!! ) Have just looked up in Bradney and there is a Llancillow Herefs.( Scudamore family). Llansilow Court, Oldcastle pedigree of Gilbert & Price. There was a branch of Phillips who stem from JAMES PHILLIPS vicar of SKENFRITH his will dated 1724..these living St Maughans area/ Lower Hilston.....others Rev. Thomas P. his son Herbert 18thC. As your Phillips has " Mr"........Hugh Phillips presume well to do??????? Bradney has: Mayors of Grosmont: 1718 James Phillips gent. 1725 Wm. Phillips gent. 1726 James Phillips sen. gent 1744 Henry Phillips gent. 1754 Henry Phillips gent. 1767 Henry Phillips gent. 1777 Roger Phillips gent. 1800 Thomas Phillips of Monmouth gent. This is possibly not at all useful as I do not have the whole picture. There are other refs. to Phillips at Grosmont not a Hugh amongst them unfortunately. "Lower Tressenny" Grosmont belonged to a family named Phillips. There are MIs to Phillips: Frances w/o Henry senior d. Aug. 7, 1734 aged 28 Ann d./o Henry jun. by Ann his wife who died Jun. 19th 1777 aged 11 mnths and 6 days Also Henry P. senr. who died Oct 21 1784 aged 85 Also Henry Phillips Junr. who died Jun 6 1821 aged 90 Ann relict. d. 23 March 1830 aged 87 Sarah w/o Wm. Adams d. July 27 aged 74 Mary Ann spinster d. Jan 10 1852 aged 73 Hope this is of interest.
