Hello Art in Canada, In the Ewyas Harold parish records- George Powell of the Dog Inn and his wife Betsey had a daughter Elizabeth baptised in 1851. Mary Powell (of the Dog) aged 70 died 1842. In 1836, John Williams seemed to be the innkeeper when he and his wife Sarah had a son William baptised. 1851 census: George Powell of Dog Inn was 27, born Llandillo. Had Sarah, Edwin and George as well as baby Elizabeth. Wife Elizabeth born Bacton. Next door at Dog Farm was James Powell widower aged 79, born Ewyas Harold. I'd think this was George's father because in 1841, the only George Powell that matches is aged 16 living with his parents James aged 70 and Mary. James was a joiner and no Dog Inn was mentioned.
