Marriage between a brother and sister is forbidden in the Bible according to Leviticus chapter 20 verse 17. Modern translations use the word "marry", but my King James Bible translation is thus: " If a man shall take his sister...and see her nakedness...it is a wicked thing." Presumably at this time within the Christian Church the Latin Vulgate Bible would have been used, and I am no Latin scholar! We must assume that this relationship would have been banned within the Jewish and Christian faiths from the earliest times.
