Hello Listers Well I send for this man's father's death certificate because I though it may give me info about his wife, but she was not mentioned. I have also sent for her death cert to see if that enlightens me further. I saw an obituary for the father (Alfred Lewis Paterson Himbury, d 23 Dec 1976) which mentioned a daughter Rowna, but I think they were mixing the son and the wife up. The wife's name was Rowena Edith Himbury (b 1903, NSW, Australia). I am still trying to find a marriage date for Rowena and Alfred (known as Pat) - I know it was after 1935 as that is when her divorce from her first husband became final. I have found no trace in Australia, and I know the family lived in Knighton, Powys for a fair while. I'd appreciate any advice for where to go next. TIA Regards Jan Moon Daintree, Australia

Hi Jan If you think that they married in England then you need to search the GRO marriage index until you find it. If the wife was named Rowena, then it is quite possible that they would have given a daughter the same name - once you find their marriage you then need to search the GRO birth index to locate any children they may have had. If she was married before their marriage certificate will give you her maiden name, and this is what you need to search for amongst the HIMBURY births.
