Does anyone with Jenkins family connections have a firm Parish Register birth for a Joseph Jenkins born in Colwall in 1828. When he married Ann Mason on 10 March 1856 in Bishops Frome he gives his father as Thomas Jenkins and the census records give his birth place as Colwall. Colwall Parish registers have been transcribed and are online via Genuki with no success although plenty of children for a Thomas & Mary Jenkins. There is a record on the IGI for a Joseph Jenkins 1828 with the always questionable entry 'of Bishops Frome" Any help much appreciated and can share information of Joseph Jenkins's family after 1856. Hi Barbara Joseph JENKINS only claimed to be born in Colwall in the 1861 census, when he said that he was 35 (ie born circa 1825). In 1871 his birthplace is given as "Worcester", although this may mean the county rather than the city, as the same is given for his wife (who was born at Mathon, WOR), and he is said to be 44 years old. In 1881 he is said to be born at Much Cowarne, around 1824, and when he died in 1884 his age was given as 57. As he was so much older than his wife (who was born about 1839 it seems) it is possible that he had "lost" a few years too...:-) And interestingly their first child was born only two days after they got married! So you may have to look rather further afield both in terms of time and geography for his birth. Good luck!
