Does anyone have any information on the early life of James CRANSTON/E? He is purported to have been a London land surveyor, who, in 1764, established a nursery for growing trees in King's Acre, Hereford. Does anyone know who he married? I have an outline of the family from the later 1700s to about the turn of the 19th/20th century, but cannot seem to find a connection to London - other than the "London land survey" description. JK
JK The Herefordshire Burial Index of the Herefordshire FHS has only one CRANSTON/E/S etc. : CRANSTON,James, 17 Mar 1835, of Kings Acre, age: 86 Breinton St Michael 1813-1839, HEF but you probably have this already. The Hererfordshire Burial Index is complete from 1813 to 1839. We are working -- gradually -- through the earlier registers. This may well be his marriage.
