Can anyone help with information on mail services in Herefordshire about the year 1800? In Australia early in the 19th century, the government advertised mail contracts and individuals who won these contracts carried the mail to various parts of the country, on horseback, or in coaches. I presume much the same happened in England. I am interested in a possible mail route from Hereford along what is now the A 465, through Kenderchurch to Abergavenny. Would records of mail contracts and routes be kept at Record Offices? M Robinson
