Hi All I have been sent this query privately: >>It appears that a HEDGES ran The Hop Pole Hotel in Hereford some time last century. Are you able to confirm from your knowledge of the area that there was such a Hotel in Hereford please?<< Not actually knowing the answer I checked on the Historical Directories website and found that the Hop Pole Inn was listed as being in Commercial Street, and it seemed to be one of the departure points for coaches and carriers. I don't think it still exists under that name, but can anyone assist me in locating it - is it still there but under a different name or has it been replaced completely? Thanks Polly Best wishes Sue
Hi Polly/Sue The old Hop Pole Hotel in Commercial Road, Hereford, was renamed O'NEILLS some years ago, but is, I believe, esentially the same building. Famed for its chip butties back in the 1970's/1980's. :-) Best regards Gordon From: "Polly Rubery" <polly@rowberry.org> To: <MIDMARCH@rootsweb.com>; <eng-hereford@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 05, 2008 7:22 AM Subject: [HEF] Hop Pole Hotel, Hereford >Hi All >I have been sent this query privately: >It appears that a HEDGES ran The Hop Pole Hotel in Hereford some time last >century.
