Hello All! It's nearing the end of year & time for me to pester you all (again) with my brick wall <g>. John SEAL (aka Peter?) was born in Dewchurch HEF ca Dec. 13, 1785, and may be the son of John SEAL and Ann SCAFFALL, who were married in Little Dewchurch in 1983. The SCAFFALL name is extremely rare and I have only found references to 3 on the whole of the internet!! (Ann being one of them) John joined the 10th Regiment of Foot (North Licolnshire Regiment) in 1803 & served with (I believe) the second battalion in Malta, injuring his leg in June 1815, then appears to have rejoined the first battalion until he was discharged in 1822. John may have been married to Ann BAUGH in 1806, however, his wife (in Canada) was known as Elizabeth and my have been his second wife. In 1832, John SEAL immigrated to Upper Canada as a Chelsea Pensioner and took up land in Medonte, Simcoe County. He and wife Elizabeth had the following children in Canada: Mary b.1835 ; Elizabeth (my 2xgreat grandmother) b 1837. ; Harriet chr. 1843. ; John b.? ; Alice b 1840. ; and perhaps Sarah b.1845 ; We seem to have quite a bit of information of his life in Canada and an impressive time-line, with 2 gaps, being his life in HEF before his military service and his military service itself. Seeking any clues and/or relations. Happy New Year! Barb Spicer Muskoka, Ontario, Canada
