Hi all New on CD from the Archive CD Books Project: 1. Post Office Directory of Herefordshire 1863. Very similar in content to the 1879 directory described below. It is quite fascinating to compare directories to see how places changed over the years with new people appearing, others moving from one village to another and new institutions like churches, hospitals and schools being built. 2. Post Office Directory of Herefordshire 1879. Each town, village and hamlet in the county is described, with details of local history, facilities and institutions to help you understand the lives of your ancestors. Each place has its own lists of private residents and tradespeople. There are also separate county wide directories of private residents and classified trades. Both of these books were kindly loaned to the Project by the Family Record Centre (the PRO) in London. see: http://www.rod-neep.co.uk/acatalog/Archive_CD_Books_Directories_102.html ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Archive CD Books Project is a not for profit organisation which exists to make reproductions of old books, documents and maps available on CD to genealogists and historians, and to co-operate with libraries, museums and record offices in providing money to renovate old books in their collection, and to donate books to their collections, where they will be preserved for future generations. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Best wishes Rob Dewsall -- ARCHIVE CD BOOKS - A not-for-profit project to reproduce old books on CD for genealogists and family historians, and pay for the restorarion of books in record offices, libraries etc. Mailing list : CDBOOKS-L@rootsweb.com (for discussions) Weekly News : CDBOOKS-NEWS-L@rootsweb.com (weekly announcements & news) E-mail : enquiries@archivecdbooks.org Web : http://www.archivecdbooks.org
