Hello Pauline Had a look in the Ledbury parish marriage register today - no sign of a William ANTHONY/Esther HANDLEY wedding in the 1870 June quarter. This would suggest that the couple were married either in a non-conformist church or in a registry office (civil wedding). Either way I don't think you've any option but to apply to the GRO for a copy of the marriage certificate in order to establish whether it's the right one or not. This is one of the reasons that Local Registrars are often unable to issue marriage certificates - because they do not know which of up to 100 registers the marriage might be in!
