Hello listers, Hereford research is new to me so be kind... I am researching the ancestry of Eliza SPENCER, christened 30 July 1843 in Llangarren who was the daughter of William SPENCER and Alice. The family may have come from Whitchurch. If anyone has any info, or can point me in the right direction, I would be most grateful. Alice, wife, 40, HEF Llanwarne. John, son, u/m, 17, labourer, HEF Harewood. Sarah, daughter, 15, farm servant, HEF Whitchurch. Mary, daughter, 13, nurse, HEF Whitchurch. William, son, 10, HEF Whitchurch. Robert, son, 5, HEF Llangarron. Eliza, daughter, 7, HEF Llangarron. Alice, daughter, 5, HEF Llangarron. Emma, daughter, 4months, HEF Llangarron. 1861 Census Herefordshire Boars Castle, Llangarren William SPENCER, head, m, 51, ag. labourer, GLS Donsbon (quite legible). Alice, wife, 50, HEF Pencoyd. Emma, daughter, 11, HEF Llangarron. Henery, son, 8, HEF Llangarron. Maria, daughter, 5, HEF Llangarron. Samuel, son, 3, HEF Llangarron. GLS is Gloucestershire, by the way, but I don't recognise either of the names shown as William's birthplace. The age of the eldest child (17) in the 1851 census would suggest that William & Alice were married around 1832/3, but where is anybody's guess.
