A question from a new subscriber in Virginia - I have recently traced my maternal ancestry back to the Parish of Bosbury. My ggrandfather, John DAVIS/DAVIES, son of Elizabeth DAVIS/DAVIES, was born in Bosbury and christened on 15 Nov 1826. The parish record for the christening cite Shin's Croft as Elizabeth's abode as a servant. Was there a residence or estate called "Shin's Croft" in that vicinity? Can anyone provide any specific info about Shin's Croft (location, owners, estate or farm, etc.)? A second Parish entry in the burial records lists Elizabeth DAVIS/DAVIES, age 26 of Shin's Croft, as being buried on 22 May 1830. Can anyone relate Elizabeth (1804-1830), my probable gggrandmother, to any of the DAVIS/DAVIES families residing in the area?
