Evening List I was wondering whether anyone on the list had access to the PRs of St Margaret's (village of). I have recently received the 1901 image (not transcript) which contains the family of William Powell who was living at Crossway, St Margarets. With him were his wife, son, 2 daughters and 2 grandchildren. One of the daughters, Mary Matilda (born 1876 in Peterchurch), is now married and her name appears to be Care - the grandchildren (aged 5 and 3 months) are hers. Out of sheer curiosity I checked against the 1881 for Cares but didn't find any entries so I wondered whether the census could have been taken with the householder "saying" who was in the house and the enumerator writing down as spoken, in which case, the surname could read Kerr. I know its a long shot but I wondered whether her marriage might show up in St Margarets and confirm one way or the other. Mandy in Windermere
