Hi listers... I feel rather silly asking this but does anyone know if the county boundaries changed at some point? I ask because according an 1881 census, Broadway was listed in Somerset yet I now find it in Herefordshire. Also, Tarrington was listed in Devon and I now find it in Herefordshire. Hi Debbie As others have said, there are many place-names in England which are duplicated (or more) in several counties. If you use the following site, you can put in your place-name and will find a listing of the counties with places to match yours, along with the batch numbers for searching in the IGI: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~tyeroots/index4.html I thought Broadway was in Worcestershire, for instance - so maybe there are several! I can say for sure that Torrington (with an "o") is in Devon, because I have been there. Good luck in your search!
