    3. Dear listers I'm writing to offer a couple of snippets about the name MERRICK, which recently appeared in the list, in case you can link them with what you already have. 1. When the property owned by my ancestor Samuel Grainger, of Hereford St Owen, was listed in 1794, it included: "Merrick's house and 2 gardens being freehold, let under lease for Mrs Merrick's life at £5.12.0d p.a., worth at her death £7.12.0d p.a., land tax 3 shillings. Under these circumstances this estate is worth £160." 2. The Will of his son John G., mealman, also of that parish, written in Sep 1791, had mentioned "tenements and gardens in Green Lane, [Hereford] now held by Elizabeth Merrick and Miles Coyle." Both documents are in Hereford Record Office, in file P6. If this raises any questions, I'll try to answer them.
