    3. If you have not done so, you should look at the will collection in the Herefordshire section of genuki. I have posted a number of wills there-- nowhere near even a small fraction of them but there are a considerable number there. There is also a Hereford Diocese pre-act book (prior to 1662_ will index which I prepared many years ago which lists wills in the order they appear on the films in the FHL. My index is available on loan on microfilm from the FHL at any local FHC. It is still missing a couple of film lists--I never completed it as I was told that the British Index Library was indexing the wills. I have never seen such an index--does anyone know if it exists or was done?? I suppose I could put the index I have on the net but it would be a large task and take probably a couple of months of typing. I have no plans to do that but have a typewritten/handwritten copy of the index as it presently exists. 3. Hi Norma, Where was Sarah born? What address was the letter sent from? Does it say where the parents were living? Have you traced Sarah and her family through the censuses from 1861 to 1901? Both Williams and Davis are extremely popular surnames. I have numerous Davis family members including a John 1832-1919 who married twice but to Elizabeth then Mary Jane. Also a Davis family that went to Vermont in 1870 followed by more siblings in 1890 to New York City. The names are so common it will be far too easy to make mistakes in i.d. With a bit more information i can check to see if we have a lucky coincidence. I have an entry of 1907, however I have a letter written by her son Alfred Edward Elias Williams, the date of the letter was 1918. He stated in the letter to his sister in America that their step father John Davis died and the Sarah was very bad with a growth in her stomach and was not expected to make it. 3. Walford baptisms pre-1813 haven't been filmed yet by the FoD people. Walford baptisms 1663-1871 are on the IGI, batch number C163771, but the coverage is amazingly patchy with only approximately 60% of entries there (from my experience). However the IGI shows a William JONES bapt. 7 Oct 1788 at Walford s/o James & Elizabeth JONES but this sounds to be too old for your man. As to the Walford marriages not being indexed, they have all been indexed by the Herefordshire FHS and can be found easily on FamilyHistoryOnline (http://www.familyhistoryonline.net/) or you can purchase a CD with the whole pre-1837 marriage index from the HFHS, see: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ukhfhs/pubs.html HTH Polly Rubery List admin: MIDMARCH@rootsweb.com A genealogy and local history list covering the Counties of Brecon, Hereford, Monmouth, Shropshire, Stafford and Worcester.
