    3. Hello Joan, Thank you for taking me on a trip down memory lane. The Herefordshire FHS 1851 census index has: Fownhope 1977 179a Hereford Herefordshire Surname ForeName Age COLLETT John 38 COLLETT Ann 35 COLLETT Jessy 14 COLLETT John 11 COLLETT Mira 07 COLLETT Emma 05 COLLETT Reubin 02 COLLETT Charles 01M I have not used that database for a while. I checked Ancestry and I couldn't find the family there either. So in desperation went to my 1851 census images on CD, dusted the box off and found them on reference HO107 1977 179 page 20. I will send you the census image by separate email. Yes, the Green Man is indeed a pub. Go here to see it today http://www.thegreenmaninn.co.uk/ Regards Gerald -----Original Message----- From: eng-hereford-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:eng-hereford-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Joan Cowdell Sent: 03 July 2008 12:17 To: Mailing List Hereford Subject: [HEF] Census sheet number for Fownhope 1851 Hello List I have a census entry in my database for John Collett, master mason, living "near the Green Man, Fownhope" in the 1851 census. I thought I would just check this entry and to my surprise I cannot find the family on Ancestry, nor any page in Fownhope which mentions the Green Man, which I presume is a pub. Would anyone be able to give me the census sheet reference, as either I have copied something down wrongly many years ago or Ancestry are missing out some pages. Many thanks. 3. Hi April, I can see from the Web that you have gathered a certain amount already. Have you thought of sending an email to this man: <http://www.captainwells.co.uk/index.php?f=data_home&a=0> because, though he is an after-dinner speaker, he must field lots of questions like yours after making one of his addresses. I see he is also a New Zealander which should mean he will be friendly(!)
