As a new subscriber I have been 'lurking' for some time but have now decided to ask for a bit of help. My g.grandmother Elizabeth Taylor was born in Tarrington around 1820, the daughter of John and Hannah Taylor, if anybody has access to the records I should appreciate knowing if she had any siblings. I believe Elizabeth may have married in London, the Pimlico area, her husband John Goddard came from Axminster, Devon. I have three children of this marriage, Elizabeth born 1847, Charles born 1850 and William (my grandfather) born 1855. If anybody can connect to this family I should love to hear from them. I live in the Channel Islands and have no way of researching english records other than by mail. Yours hopefully Jeanne jeanne@gtonline.net
Hi everyone. This lady has contacted me looking for information on her family. Can anyone on that side of the big pond help? From: jtracey@cableaz.com (JTracey) To: Reneelwaring@aol.com I'm really researching WILLIAM PHILLIPS, WIFE ELEANOR JONES, POSSIBLE SISTER ELIZABETH PHILLIPS AND POSSIBLE BROTHER JAMES PHILLIPS from Herefordshire, also. WILLIAM AND ELEANOR JONES are written in Phsbg materials as coming in 1820, SISTER ELIZABETH married JOHN SHIMMEL in Phsbg later. It's written that Hardman's sister Lady Sarah Hoskyns of Herefordshire may have been the one to tell the WARINGS about Philipsburg and influenced them to come. Have you read that account in "150th Anniversary of Phsbg?" Jan

Dear listers, I'm hoping someone might be able to help plug a gap in my family history with information from the Ross census for 1841, 1861 and/or 1871. I have family living at New Street, Ross, in both 1851 and 1881, but it's proving very difficult to locate certain people either before or after that. Here are the names and what bare facts I have - sorry, quite a few, but the personnel in this family seems to have been quite changeable over the years!! Hi folks, I am writing to the list with an update on the FreeCen HEF 1871 census transcription project. As was indicated a short while ago, we are in the process of sending out the census Pieces to our volunteers. Of the 50 Pieces that we shall transcribe for HEF, 13 are currently with volunteers and are being transcribed. Several more Pieces should be sent out soon to our volunteers (taking the number of Pieces allocated to about 17). Keep in mind that we will be tackling a few Pieces from counties that border HEF. Would they interest you? The response to the previous pleas for volunteers was very positive. However, as you can see from the above numbers we still have much work to be done. Remember...the aim of the FreeCen project is to bring the contents of the UK censuses to everyone via the internet - free for the user! Yet, this cannot be achieved without our precvious volunteers who have so generously and graciously donated time and resources to the project. Would you consider volunteering for the project? We will provide the software, the census microfilms, and troubleshooting support to all volunteers. If you have access to a microfilm/microfiche reader (or even a home scanner), a computer, and some spare time... won't you consider joining the project? Your help will be appreciated by us, and ultimately by the masses!! Cheers to all, Steve Karner (sugarglider@cox-internet.com Texas, USA) ----- »» HFHS member #1610 »» HEF co-ordinator for FreeCen (http://freecen.rootsweb.com) Have you thought about being a volunteer? Hi Gina and Kate Thank you for your replies. I apologise for my ignorance. Question am I on the right list to seek the information I require? If not can any one point me in the right direction. The addresses of the Rogers brothers was taken from Documents obtained here in Australia and they were copies of late 1880 Documents. Regards Beryl Bliim
Hi List First I would like to introduce my self. My name is Beryl Bliim and I live in Cobbitty, New South Wales, Australia. I am looking for information on the Rogers branch of my family tree. The information I have is that Joseph ROGERS and his brothers James and Richard came to Victoria in 1841 on the "Diamond" their brother William came out earlier to Western Australia and later joined his brothers in Victoria. The brothers and their family's lives are well documented after their arrival in Australia. I am looking for any information that is available in Herefordshire about them, their parents and any other siblings etc. Parents: Joseph ROGERS (b) abt. 1791 Rickmansworth Hereford, and Sarah Partridge (M) abt. 1820s Children Joseph (b) abt 1820, William (b) abt. 1821, Richard (b)abt. 1823, James abt. 1826. Said to have been born or came from Chorleywood, Herefordshire England. Birth dates calculated from information on shipping manifest and various documents available in Australia, Marriage and Death Certificates etc.I would appreciate any information available concerning their exact birth dates. Or indication of any other siblings. Thanking you in anticipation Regards Beryl Bliim
Hi Beryl! Here's the info page and a link to help you subscribe to the normal version of each of the Bucks & Herts mailing lists akin to this Herefordshire one. http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/ENG/BUCKS.html mailto:BUCKS-L-request@rootsweb.com?subject=subscribe&body=subscribe http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/ENG/ENG-HERTFORDSHIRE.html mailto:ENG-HERTFORDSHIRE-L-request@rootsweb.com?subject=subscribe&body=subsc ribe Good luck in your searches - and don't worry about your 'ignorance' - we're nearly all here to help alleviate that problem in ourselves! With that old handwriting, Herefordshire & Hertfordshire can be quite indistinguishable from each other! There seem to be quite a number of Rogers families in Bucks around Rickmansworth & Chorleywood, but I can't find the specific family you are looking for - unless the boys were fibbing about their ages! Here's a very long link, which will probably be chopped by the email program into a number of lines. If you can copy&paste all the lines into a single address, it takes you to a handy website for searching some of the LDS online resources: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/igi/search_igi.asp?first_name=&last_n ame=&fathers_first_name=&fathers_last_name=&mothers_first_name=&mothers_last _name=&spouses_first_name=&spouses_last_name=&event_index=0&to_date=&from_da te=&juris1=&juris2=&juris3=&juris4=&standardize=&date_range=0&date_range_ind ex=0&batch_number=&serial_number=&film_number=&file_number=&social_number=&s ubmission_number=®ion=2®ionfriendly=British+Isles&juris1friendly=&juri s2friendly=&juris3friendly=&juris4friendly= If you can't get that link to work, try this one instead: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp The second URL links to a less specific version of the huge URL above (eg, you can't specify the county in the second page, but you can in the long one). The coverage of records isn't complete, but the LDS Familysearch website can give you some really good pointers on where to look in the official records. Hope this helps! x Kate. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Beryl Bliim" <bbliim@ispdr.net.au> To: <ENG-HEREFORD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 27, 2002 12:17 AM Subject: [HEF] ROGERS > Hi Gina and Kate > Thank you for your replies.
