Hi Listers, If possible, can SKS help me out? I am looking for a birth record for James or William BISHOP born aprox. 1878 in Hereford, Hereford, England. The reason for the 2 names James and William is because I believe the info for these 2 boys was transposed on the 1881 census and acording to my personal records from family members, they have James born in 1878 and William born in 1881 in Basford. Both boys have living daughters (70 & 85) that would love to have their dads' birth information. Your help is much appreciated :-) Sincerely, Debbi

Have e mailed Hampton Court but they weren't any help at all rather unfriendly. Any help I can get would be appreciated. many thanks Rose
There is a very good collection of the estate records in the Hereford Record Office. I have obtained much information about family members who were tenant farmers there. The memorandum books cover the period you are interested in. There is a wealth of other records also available. Dear Jackie, The Mansions and Maonors of Herefordshire says that William Markey son of John Markey married first Lydia daughter of Sir Gabriel Low of Ozleworth and second Elizabeth daughter of Philip Cecil of the Duffryn Co.Monmouth but died s.p. in 1687 being succeeded at Alton by his nephew Markey Abrahall. William's sister Winifred had married John Abrahall of Ingeston. So this Markey line died out with William.
