Hi Listers Seeking PREECE family around 1860, believed living at 'Backberry', Mordiford in 1860 at time of birth of daughter Sylvia to parents Henry and Sarah. Other children known are Charles(1853) and Elizabeth(1856). Both Sylvia and Elizabeth seem to disappear after this date, and cannot locate Henry's birth place. If anyone has access to 1861 census may possibly help, although a relative did (allegedly!) search this some years ago without success. Any sightings gratefully received. Ian Preece
Hello, This is my first posting. It was interesting to see the Mitchell names on the Cole/Eason messages recently. I am researching this MITCHELL family, although Phillip is not from our direct line. Is there anyone on the list researching these Mitchell families from Bromyard, as I would be interested to hear from you, and also would be pleased if anyone can look up any Bromyard records for me. Some of the other names who married into this family that I know of are CHURCHWAY/NEWTON/JONES/CURETON/BOOTH but there are lot of wives where I just have "Mary" etc. With Best Wishes Lyall Mitchell lyallm@ihug.co.nz
Hi, I am new this list and am looking for a little help. I have known for some time that my great grandfather Thomas HIGGINS was born in HEF about 1823-1837 but had no idea where. Finally on the 1861 Census of GLS it stated that he was born in: Hereford - Huntly As I want to look at a film of the parish records I need to know where Huntly is. Is that the name of the parish and is it still in Herefordshire or is it Huntley in Gloucestershire (St. Johns). I would appreciate some guidance. Thanks, Irene in Melbourne, Australia _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com

Hi Pauline Gordon Evans wrote: >>Had a look in the Ledbury parish marriage register today - no sign of a William ANTHONY/Esther HANDLEY wedding in the 1870 June quarter. This would suggest that the couple were married either in a non-conformist church or in a registry office (civil wedding).<< Or in one of the many other parish churches which are in the Ledbury Registration District! A list can be found on the Herefordshire FHS at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ukhfhs/parish.html or on GENUKI. This is one of the reasons that Local Registrars are often unable to issue marriage certificates - because they do not know which of up to 100 registers the marriage might be in! Good day, Thank you for the look up. I believe that these may be my 2nd gr. grandparents. Family tradition is that Charles Cole may have died in Bombay or Calcutta. I have found Ann Eason married a 2nd time in Worcester to a William Ward Whittle. The family appears in the United States in the 1870 census with head of the family as William W. Whittle, Ann Whittle, Sarah Ann Cole, Annie Cole, and George W. Whittle. Interesting that you listed witness as Philip MITCHELL and Elizabeth MITCHELL. In the same church there is a Philip Mitchell and Elizabeth Cole who married 28 Feb 1854 Bromyard, Hereford, England. Perhaps a older sister? Thanks for your help. Hello Pauline Had a look in the Ledbury parish marriage register today - no sign of a William ANTHONY/Esther HANDLEY wedding in the 1870 June quarter. Hi Ann, Sorry, but according to some notes I did a few years ago, the PARRY family were there then: Ann PARRY aged 55 was the Innkeeper. With her were her children John 25, David 22, Mary 16, Henry 12, plus two lodgers, John JONES 25 and John MORGAN 20 (& John MORGAN was still there in 1901, along with John, David & Mary PARRY). In case anyone has access to the films and can recheck (perhaps there were two households at the same address? I was only collecting PARRYs so might not have noticed), the references are RG10 2703 (Enum round 3), Folio 21b, Enumerator's Sheet 8. Regards, Barbara Griffiths Coventry UK > Hello. Hello. Please would sks who has access to the 1871 census of Walterstone tell me who is the innkeeper of "The Carpenters Arms" Walterstone, I am hoping that the TEAGUE family are still there, they were there in 1861 with Mary as the head at the ripe old age of 74, Eliza at 34 and Edward at 30, Mary might have died by 1871 but maybe Eliza and Edward are still there. Thank you. Ann Ontario, Canada.
Hi everyone. If you have a bible in your possession or you know of one, lets get the information on line. It just takes a moment and might help someone else. Here are 3 different web sites. Send your information to all three at the same time. That way no one site can slap a copyright on the information and there is less chance of some large genealogy group buying up the sites and making the info. inaccessible to people. If you have another site that would like to have this information please let us know. Here are the addresses: www.biblerecords.com http://www.usgennet.org/usa/topic/ancestors/bibles.html The gentleman with this site says he will make a special place for the bible records. I just took a look at this site myself and it is worth a look for genealogical information as well: http://www.recyclegen.com God Bless, Sincerely, Renee L. Hello everyone, Is anyone connected to ROWLESTONE/ROULSON of Wormbridge? In particular I am trying to find out what happened to Maria Louise ROWLESTONE/ROULSON who married John LECHMERE in Wormbridge in 1846. They had two chidren, Emily Charlotte b.1847 and Charles Allen b. 1849. On the 1851 census index Maria is with the two children in All St. Hereford. No sign of her husband. Where was he and what happened to Maria after that? I know about the children but not about their parents! Any snippets of information would be very much appreciated. Kind regards, -- Janet
Here is a very good web site that records Bible records on line for you and there is free access. http://www.biblerecords.com/
Does anyone have knowledge of a depository with "FREE ACCESS" for Bible records? Renee Waring
There is a Bible site on Roots-web for bible records, it is maintained by Tracey St. Claire, and she contributes many bible records, here is the site, BIBLE-RECORDS-L@rootsweb.com Jackie in Indiana
