Does SKS have access to the 1891 or 1901 census, with reference to the following TOOMBS? My father was Percy Douglas TOOMBS, who, according to legend, was born in 1900 (location unknown), married Winifred Gertrude WILLIS, and died at the age of 28. (I was born in 1927) Apparently, my father was a skilled wheelwright. They had 3 children:- John Douglas William TOOMBS, b Jan 26,1924 and died in Perth, W.Australia. Joan Florence Mary TOOMBS, b Oct 8, 1925 and still living. Derrick Percy TOOMBS, b May 27, 1927 currently living in Waco, Texas. USA. My birth, and that of my sister were both registered at Redmarley, Glos; my parents address was:- Pear Tree Cottage, Leddington, Ledbury, Hfds. My father had a brother Charles TOOMBS, who I understood to live in Norton, Glos. Charles first wife, Edith WILLIS(she was from Bournville and worked at Cadbury's) was killed in a motor-cycle accident, and his second wife was named Gwen. They had a son named Michael. My grandfather was born c.1880, and died in 1945, b in Colwall Parish Churchyard acording to family sources. He was married to Florence WILLIS,(nee WEBB), and they lived at:- Sunny Bank, Leddington, Ledbury, Hfds. Any help or any information with reference to the TOOMBS family would be greatly appreciated. TIA Derrick (Dee) Toombs in Texas.
Hi list I am searching for a John Probert who I think was born in Huntington Oct 1780. There is an entry on the IGI that matches and gives his mothers name as Ann - no father. Has anyone come across any Proberts in this parish? Many thanks Angela _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com

Mary Yeats married Philip Baker in Munsley, Herefordshire, in 1755. However, she does not appear to have be baptised in that parish. Her age at death suggests that she was born about 1723. Is anyone else researching the Yeats family in Herefordshire? Has anyone found a baptism which might be that of my Mary? Sara White
Hi all Can someone look up on the 1891 census William Henry Goode (both father and Son) for me? On the 1901 census William Goode was Head Gamekeeper age 43 and William Goode age 16 was a Gamekeeper, however do not have mother's name. The civil parish at this time was Bullingham Louis, Hereford. I think this the family that I have been looking for. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks Deborah
James Corbett married Abigail Turner in 1784 in Tarrington. Their daughter Alice (1797-1879) married firstly in 1816 Charles Matthews and secondly in 1833 John Innes. She had children by both husbands. Is anyone else interested in this family? I have quite a lot of information to share. I am particularly keen to find James' baptism: has anyone seen anything suitable? Sara White
Apologies to those who receive this twice but I am posting to both HEF & MON lists for reasons that will become clear. Would some kind souls please see if they can find the following couple who have been eluding me now for some time in either the 1841 or 1851 census records. They are Thomas GREENLY and his wife Mary LOYD/LLOYD who were married in Dixton Newton, MON in November 1821. Children possibly with them - Benjamin born Chepstow MON 1826 (definite) and possibly Thomas born Christchurch MON 1829 and Thomas jnr born Monmouth MON 1832. There are probably others. A thorough search of the Dixton parish records (by the HRO) has shown that there are NO other GREENLY entries between 1785 and 1830 (baptism, marriage or burial). Thomas snr does not appear on the IGI. The family originated in HEF but we are not yet sure whether it was this generation that struck out into MON. I would expect the family to be found in MON in 1841 or 51 but the birthplaces may well be HEF - possibly in the Mordiford area. This one is proving a really tough nut to crack so any help on this family would be greatly appreciated by a large group of Greenly descendants who are trying to link this line to a much larger Greenly tree before uploading the whole massive undertaking onto the net. Many thanks in advance, David Matthews

She lived in High Lane, Upper Tedstone, HEF. prior to marriage. James Marks was a limeburner. There is a James Marks, age 61 Parish of Eastham on 1851 census, but I'm not sure if he is the right father. Is anyone else researching this family? I can find no record of Jane's mother. Would appreciate any help, please. Bea Fausold

Dear all, One of my ancestors is Eduart Habbi (Edward Hobby), who married Teuntje van Bedeveld in the Dutch town of Driel in 1705. Most probably Edward was British and he may have been a soldier. Obviously he stayed in The Netherlands, since the couple got 6 children between 1705 and 1719, which were all baptized in Driel. Their names: John, Mary, William, Esther, Lutjen and Anthony. Further details can be found on my genealogical homepage http://www.ghes.myweb.nl. Who can help me to trace Edward's roots? Familysearch.com reveals the baptism of a Edward Hobby on 3 Mar 1674 in Brobury, Hereford, as son of John Hobby and Aulita. This would fit rather well, with a view to the names of the children. I feel that Lutjen might well be a Dutch form of Aulita/Aoliciae. Could anyone of you confirm this or check any relevant source of information for me? Thanks and best regards, Gijsbert Hesselink, from The Netherlands
Hi Gary This looks as though it might be your family :- 1851 Census Herefordshire Boars Castle, Llangarren William SPENCER, head, m, 40, farm labourer, GLS (unreadable - looks like Lounbou). Alice, wife, 40, HEF Llanwarne. John, son, u/m, 17, labourer, HEF Harewood. Sarah, daughter, 15, farm servant, HEF Whitchurch. Mary, daughter, 13, nurse, HEF Whitchurch. William, son, 10, HEF Whitchurch. Robert, son, 5, HEF Llangarron. Eliza, daughter, 7, HEF Llangarron. Alice, daughter, 5, HEF Llangarron. Emma, daughter, 4months, HEF Llangarron. 1861 Census Herefordshire Boars Castle, Llangarren William SPENCER, head, m, 51, ag. labourer, GLS Donsbon (quite legible). Alice, wife, 50, HEF Pencoyd. Emma, daughter, 11, HEF Llangarron. Henery, son, 8, HEF Llangarron. Maria, daughter, 5, HEF Llangarron. Samuel, son, 3, HEF Llangarron. GLS is Gloucestershire, by the way, but I don't recognise either of the names shown as William's birthplace. The age of the eldest child (17) in the 1851 census would suggest that William & Alice were married around 1832/3, but where is anybody's guess.
