    2. Re: Your private message to me: You will refrain from subscribing me as you have recently done at any time to any list group or other organisation run by or organised directly or indirectly by you your associates or operators.   Dear John McL. You wrote me a very nasty letter, so I thought I would respond. You asked me not to write you privately, so I have not. You Sir, have never been subscribed to my organization, nor will you ever be. You were INVITED TO JOIN because of your interest in the Waring Family history. This is a PRIVATE organization and only pleasant people are invited to join. That leaves you out. Your invitation is herby revoked. You hurt my feelings very deeply Mr. McL., as was your intention. I'm sorry you burned this bridge John. I have 14 years of Waring research behind me. May your brick wall never fall, May your research be unfruitful. Renee Waring Group Owner The Center for Waring Family History

Llanfihangel Masstron, Brecon?>> The best I can come up with isn't a sound-alike, but with poor reading of illegible hand-writing, could you be looking at LLanfihangel Nantbran? x Kate.

    1. [HEF] The Vicars Reply!
    2. Keith MERRICK
    3. I had a email from a vicar off line asking me to phone him, which i did. The vicar read my email & this is the highlights of our conversation. First of all he said there is no excuse for rudeness, the church people who were rude to me should apologise. Tracing your family history has boomed in the last 10 years, mainly due to computers, many people expect him to stop whatever he is doing & look up the people they are researching despite telling them that many registers are now at the Hereford Record Office or the Diocese office. personal callers he has tried to help, many have left a small donation usually £1 others leave nothing. some people are rude to him & his churchwardens, they leave doors open, walk all over the graveyard looking at the stones then walk into the church with dirty shoes. He said many vicars welcome people to there churches & will continue to do so, but please remember that the church is a Holy place & should be treated as so even if you are not religious yourself. Ive accepted an invitation to meet him, (which is handy as some of my ancestors came from his parish) sorry if ive bored you with my experience of miserable church people. Regards Keith.

    2. Keith MERRICK
    3. Dear James, thankyou for your email, ive had several others offline who have had similar experiences, its a shame, ive always left a donation for the information ive recieved. On a positive note some time ago i met a vicar & his wife and they made me most welcome with a cup of tea & a large wedge of home made cake! he brought out all sorts of boxes one of them was called "Bishops Transcripts" going back years the writing was unreadable but i managed to get some info from him which was lucky as they were in the process of sending off the boxes to H.Q KEITH.

    3. Hi List Is there anyone researching the name of YOUKINS. I notice that in the 1901 census there is a Youkins listed in Herefordshire and I was wondering if there was any connection to my branch which seems to originate in the Staffordshire area, Any information would be most welcome. David

    1. [HEF] upsetting the vicar!
    2. Keith MERRICK
    3. since posting my last email about upsetting a vicar & churchwarden, i have been contacted off list by a gentleman who has had a similar experience. he is dealing with the matter on both our behalfs, i will let you know the results. I rather not say which churches they are as i may have caught the people at a bad time, the number of churches is very small so please do not let me put you off visiting any as the vast majority of the church officials i have found to be very helpful Keith.

    1. [HEF] The Center for Waring Family History
    2. Hi everyone. I have put together on Smartgroups.com a private group called "The Center for Waring Family History". It is an interactive site where everyone is encouraged to contribute. We all have a brick wall somewhere in the Waring family tree and the only way we are going to break down those walls is to share our information. When you are interested in doing the same for your other family names Smartgroups will be there to help. Perhaps you can put together your own group. Please take a look and let me know what you think. Sincerely, Renee L. 1. [HEF] Gamekeepers in HEF
    2. Mandy Whitham
    3. Does anyone on the list have access to information regarding estates/large properties (and their owners) that might have employed gamekeepers? My 2 x Great Grandfather (William Powell) was a gamekeeper in Peterchurch (1860-1890 approx)and lived in a property called Park Gate but I have been unable to trace this property on a modern map. We have also had family members working as keepers in Bredwardine (Powell's in 1850/60) and Winforton (Thomas in 1880s) and would be interested to hear about possible properties in those areas too. Mandy in Windermere (descended from 4 generations of gamekeepers!)

    2. An amendment to my previous posting.. 2. Keith MERRICK
    3. Thankyou to the people who kindly answered my email asking for help to find the above, I recently restarted my interest in tracing my family history after buying this computer, i have done as you suggested, looked at 1841,1851 census & have visited various churches in Herefordshire & surrounding counties, on the whole the reception ive had from most clergy has been helpful. unfortunately ive had some nasty incidents with church wardens & vicars who inform me that they are fed up with family historians making a nuisance of themselves (im putting it in polite words!) 1 church warden even escorted me from the graveyard & i was told not to come back! Being a easy going nonviolent person im a bit wary of visiting churches to do any research, so i apologise if i keep asking for help but i find its safer! i would be interested to hear from anyone else who ha had the same experience. Keith.
