Is there anywhere I can get a photo of Croft parish church? Even any information old and new about Croft ? I have a book "A History of herfordshire" by John and Margaret West for general background. Tourist stuff? Thanks Pat
I would just like to thank Phil Bufton and Gerald Cooke for sending me information on the above names, it is much appreciated and hopefully I can now find out a bit more about these families. Hope someone can help. In the 1851 Hereford Index which was kindly sent to me by Chris It shows the Kington Family as living at Grendon Bish. I have looked this up on the map and the only village I can find is Grendon, nr Bromyard. Can anyone tell me if this is correct or whether there is a Parish somewhere in Herefordshire called Grendon Bish. Eveline

Hello Keith, I have a Harriet Watkins christened 3 Feb 1835 in Eaton Bishop. She was the daughter of James Watkins and Mary. Batch #C138791 James Watkins married Mary Skyrme at Eaton Bishop on 30 January 1826. Batch #M138792 BUT there is also a marriage of a John Watkins to Harriet Jones at Eaton Bishop on 30 November 1830. I can't find a child of this marriage, so far. One of these Watkins should be yours! By the names you are researching, we may be connected, as I also have Watkins, Maddox and Jones!! However, only the Maddox appear to be from the Shropshire/Montgomery area. Back on the list after an absence of some time. Is it possible for SKS to look at either the 1891 census or directories to see if William H. BRADLEY was still the Rector of Kingsland. He was Rector on the 1881 census and I am trying to trace the relationship to my Greatgrandfather John Miller Bradley who was witness at his wedding. Also if it is possible to find who his wife was before his second marriage in Wilmslow in 1879. William gave his address as Kingsland then. Regards Jean Loughborough.
To Don Maddox, Hello Don, im not sure if you & i have been in contact about the Maddox family, sorry if we have my memory is going! Im trying to find out who Harriet Watkins mother was do you have her in your file? Keith.
Hello Keith A baptismal entry is the obvious place to find Harriet's mother's name, but presumably you've tried that without success? Do you have names of any female off-spring (ie Harriet's daughters) which might give a clue? Have you looked for father John WATKINS in the 1841/1851 Census? If you can pin him down and his wife's with him then you'll have her Christian name and (in the 1851) place of birth. Best wishes Gordon Evans ----- Original Message ----- From: "Keith MERRICK" <keith@merrick5191.fslife.co.uk> To: <ENG-HEREFORD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, September 15, 2002 10:32 AM Subject: [HEF] HARRIET WATKINS > i have an ancestor HARRIET WATKINS who married EDMUND MADDOX. > HARRIET was born in Eaton Bishop Herefs, in 1829 ( i think ) her fathers name was JOHN WATKINS ive tried to find out who Harriets Mother was but no luck any advice would be appreciated Keith. > > > ==== ENG-HEREFORD Mailing List ==== > . > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 >
