    2. Maurice Sheppard
    3. Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help me with the source of a picture and any further details of this defunct church please. The Historic Herefordshire Online database gives just the following brief details:- "Church was pulled down in 1881. The remaining walls, some standing to 5', give little or no indic of the date of the structure, but can hardly be earlier than the C13. The walls of the church standing up to 1m high are V overgrown. " As the church records only exist until 1877, that would appear to tie in with the date of demolition. My great grandparents, John WOOD & Susannah GARBETT were married in this church on 1st October 1835. I visited the site about 5 years ago, but it now appears to be on private property and a largish modern house had been built adjacent to the site of the church. Hence I could not even go wandering and attempt to discover the remains of the walls - not that I knew they existed at the time of my visit! Any information would be much appreciated. Regards, Mo (The LONGMORE Pages at www.msheppard.com)

    3. Hi every one., Until recently , I have been unable to find where my grandmother came from, as My Grandfather Alfred Jones Booth came from Darliston and all his Kin, I naturally thought Gran would be a round the same area. but as there were dozens of Elizabeth Evan born in 1867, and the marriage certificate only had her Fathers name on it (Henry,) it didn't help. Then last night while looking through a small part of the 1891 census, there they were with a young daughter Sarah , living in Aston, and low and behold Gran,s birth place was Hereford ,I was so excited as there was some mystery around the wedding as it was told Great Granddad Henry ,was against the wedding and disinherited Gran, also Gran had Welsh connections, So I can't wait to get her Birth certificate to see who her Mother was, unfortunately, I have no Idea where to apply, so would really appreciate some help on this matter. Many thanks Happy Thanks Giving to all Doreen P. Brampton, Ontario.

    1. : [HEF] SMITH in Llanveynoe & Crasswall
    2. Hello Hazel, You mentioned Olchon Court in conncection with your Smith family. In 1881, James Williams and Ann (formerly Lloyd, nee Smith) were farming Olchon Court. I recently found out that after Ann died in 1883, James Williams remarried and went to Australia. However, sometime in the mid 1900s, a James Smith farmed at Olchon Court. One of my Smith's had a son John Smith with a son called Arthur J. Smith, but seemed to change it from Arthur to James in the 1901 census. At this time, he was still in LLanddewi Cwm, Radnorshire. So, I don't know if he is the same James Smith who went to Olchorn Court later. I have some of my Smith's born in Kington, Herefordshire from 1755, but then some of them moved to Radnorshire. Two of the females married and farmed in Llanveynoe. One at Olchon Court, another at Pencrewe. I do not have all the baptisms of the Smith's in Kington, so could have moved to other places in Herefordshire before going to Radnorshire. If any of this fits anything you know, perhaps we can work somthing out? Best wishes, Maureen Jenkins.
