"All duties of man laid down in a clear way, easily understood, beneficial to all but especially to the worst readers. And by reading one each day, the whole can be read three times per year - with the mysterious works of God for many occasions. 2. holties
    3. Dear Listers, My wife has a relation at the end of the 19th century whose job was given as a Commercial clerk. She has an idea that he might have been a bookie or have worked for one. Could the term 'Commercial clerk' have covered this or was it simply a clerk who worked for a company? Any suggestions? Cheers, Mike Holt.

    3. Hi Listers, I have added the photographs from the album of Catherine Hancorn 1832 - 1924 to my website. Unfortunately, she did not put any names to the photos, but some were probably friends and as she ran a boarding house, some may be boarders or servants. So please have a look and see if you recognise anyone from your family. The website address is: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~roseana/hancorne.htm Also there is a search facility for the whole website , so look for your family names as the Hancorns married into many other families and their details can be seen. Best Wishes, Ros Dunnico.

    1. [HEF] BROOMS
    2. ij.broom
    3. I am trying to research my husband's BROOM family. Before moving to London they came from Tenbury Wells, Worcs, but there is no sign of GEORGE and MARY BROOM's marriage there. I have bare details of one at Laysters, Hereford in 1773 and at Holy Cross & St. Giles, Shrewsbury in 1776 - if one is correct maybe Mary came from Herefordshire?. Their son JOSEPH born abt 1796 cannot be found in Worcs., so I wondered whether he might have been born in Hereford over the County boundary? I would be most grateful if anybody has come across the family in their research, or indeed, any Brooms. Any information would be most welcome as the dreaded brick wall is in place!! Happy New Year, Isabel.

    2. Sara White
    3. Richard Williams was born in Monmouthshire in c 1785, but he married Anne (aka Nancy) Baker in Kempley, Gloucestershire in 1814 and all their children were baptised there. The family did not stay in the village long, all the boys moved away, some to the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, and I haven't been able to trace the girls. I have quite a lot of information to share about this family, and many questions to answer, so I am interested to know if anyone else is researching the Williams family of Kempley. Sara White

Notts., separated from Leics. by the Soar. 13 S. of Nottingham ; ac. 1,520 ; soil loam, overlying clay. The Dec. and Perp. church of St. John the Baptist was restored 1894. A number of brasses (some of them of great interest) have been stolen, but there remains a 15th-cent. one of a priest, as well of several marble monuments and other memorials. In the churchyard is a fine old yew. S. was a Roman settlement. S. 3. Hi Helen, I too have CAFFELLE'S in my family one especially my great grandmother Ann CAFFELLE who was born in Fron Hope 1846 to William and Hannah who married in 1837 at Woolhope. I have only researched a little in to this side of my family; having researched my Mother's side and am now into my Father's side where Richard William ROBERTS married the above Ann CAFFELLE in 1868 in Kings Norton, Worcestershire. According to a copy of a will which was amongst my late Grandfather's effects contained a wonderful list of names one or two with addresses in Calgary, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Michigan, plus Ledbury in Herefordshire. Perhaps we could get together to see if there is any connection. 3. Searching for the baptism entry of John Hill shown in the 1851 census of Martley, Worcestershire as a Farmer aged 67 with 220 acres. He says that he was born in W------ton, Hereford. This seems likely to have been Withington? The only IGI reference is 28th October 1798 and as he would have been born c.1784, this seems unlikely. If there is anyone with access to the parish records of Withington I would appreciate a look up please. _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8.
