North Oakley is part of Hannington parish which part of Kingsclere Registration district. There are no Savery baptisms in Kingsclere around the 1820s > 25. I think that Henry may be the same Henry Savery who > served as Parish Clerk The Henry who was recorded as Surveyor Land Measurer & Parish Clerk in the 1881 Census was born in North Oakley at which time he was married to Mary A. ? age 69 born Sezincote, Glos. Sezincote and Withington are not very far apart which suggests Henry too may be linked to James through his father also called James, a gamekeeper according to marriage entry. This James is not recorded as deceased so may be found in the 1881 census. Mary Ann Savery was buried at St. Mary on 29 Jan 1887 and Henry married Louisa Young a widow, formerly Butler on 2 Jul 1888, she was 21 years younger than him. There do not seem to any children of this marriage. A witness at the wedding was Henry Thomas Savery, a son of John Savery. John was variously shoemaker parish clerk, sexton and clock cleaner in Kingsclere, he was born ca 1809 in Withington so is possibly a son of James. Henry Thomas had married in 1880, Eliza Butler, one of Louisa's sisters. Louisa Young as she was then was a witness at this wedding. > in Kingsclere from the 1870's to about 1910. > Ann's mother had been Hannah Goddard. Where was she in > 1851? Valerie I can find no evidence that the Hannah Goddard born ca April 1825 to John and Elizabeth (Dorman) married a Joseph Savery in Kingsclere, but she could have married elsewhere, Hannington, for example, as it is only a couple of miles away. I don't have Hannington fiche to check this. Sorry to have to take away the Kingsclere link but hope the other facts will be of use. --- John Lewis <jayellatntlworlddotcom> from Bournemouth, Dorset, UK. using Debian GNU/Linux and GeneWeb genealogy software Main Family Names in HAM are: Kingsclere: BUTLER, COOPER, FISHER, FOSTER, GIRDLER, HAWKINS, SMITH Hazeley Heath: BARKER, CHANDLER, LEWINGTON, NEVILL(E) Main Family Names in GLA are: GRIFFITH, HOPKINS, JENKINS, LEWIS.
