Having looked at the wills of John Foster, father and son, I need to add another name to my ever growing list of family names, that of KING. John Foster snr. had a daughter Ann(e) born about Oct 1799 in Kingsclere. In his will he leaves £1000 to his daughter Anne King. John Foster jnr. in a codicil refers to 'Mrs King my first wife's mother in law' In 1793 a John Foster marries Sarah King in Thatcham. A Sarah King is baptised in Burghfield in 1768. John Foster jnr's first wife is Sarah ? (his second wife is also Sarah but I know about her as she is my 2xgt-grandmother) The dates of Sarah K's baptism, the marriage and date of first child of John and Sarah all suggest there is a link. what would help confirm this would be names of Sarah's parents, if they are X and Ann(e) it could be that he married a cousin. I know about a Sarah King who was born in Kingsclere in 1773 but while this Sarah's mother was not Ann she is a possiblity. So if anyone has access to Burghfield parish registers and could look her up it will be a big help. In the meantime I am going to be looking at Kingsclere fiche for any Kings. Any info on the Thatcham marriage such as witnesses could be useful as well. --- John Lewis <jayellatntlworlddotcom> from Bournemouth, Dorset, UK. using Debian GNU/Linux and Geneweb genealogy software Main Family Names in HAM are: Kingsclere: BUTLER, COOPER, FISHER, FOSTER, GIRDLER, HAWKINS, SMITH Hazeley Heath: BARKER, CHANDLER, LEWINGTON, NEVILL(E) Main Family Names in GLA are: GRIFFITH, HOPKINS, JENKINS, LEWIS.
