    3. Hello all There is a new Worm/Virus that is being delivered disguised as a Microsoft Security Update regarding incorrect MIME Header and refers to MS02-005 document. There is an attachment called q216309 which it asks you to download. DONT DO IT!!!. Norton will prevent you from doing this as it blanks the download facility. If you check the MS site you will find that the MS02-005 and q216309 do not correspond to each other. q216309 does not exist on Microsofts Download site. If you have downloaded the worm then you will have to go into DOS to get rid of it but don't ask me how. Regards and a good Easter to everyone Peter Goff Kingsclere, Hampshire www.kingsclere.org.uk All outgoing e-mails are scanned for viruses before despatch.

    3. Hello All, This new worm Virus has been issue by the Federation of Family History Societies, they are very worried about this Virus and other Virus, this is their message to all Listowners:- Whilst we do not normally send messages out about viruses or virus hoaxes, there has been a marked increase in the spread of the virus discovered earlier this month, referred to as W32.Gibe@mm. I am now receiving more than the previous 1 or 2 infected messages each day, so the number of family historians with infected systems must be growing. It arrives as an e-mail purporting to have been sent out from "Microsoft Corporation Security Center" with the subject "Internet Security Update". It has as an attachment the file q216309.exe (which is 123KB in size and therefore takes time to download). Unless detected by your Anti Virus software, the components of this trojan horse file will worm themselves into your system, installing a 'Backdoor Trojan' which allows remote access to the infected system. It will also reproduce itself in e-mails which it sends to all addresses found in your Microsoft Outlook Address book and in .htm, .html, .asp, and .php files stored on your hard drive (such as web pages recently stored as 'History', or as temporary internet files for quicker viewing later). For fuller details and instructions on how to remove this worm and the files and instructions it has created: - if you use Norton Anti Virus please see http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.gibe@mm.html, - otherwise visit the equivalent page on your Anti Virus Software publisher's web-site. End of message PLEASE DO NOT OPEN ANY ATTACHMENTS, ASK THE PERSON WHO HAS SENT THE ATTACHMENT IF THEY HAVE SENT YOU AN ATTACHMENT, AND WHAT IS ON THE ATTACHMENT. Please do your weekly BACKUP of your files, if all of your files get wiped off your computer, when your computer is clean, you can reinstate your files.
