Hello All, I bought the Hampshire Workhouse 1881 paper backed book at the Bracknell fair today and found these entries in the Winchester Union Workhouse employed as staff. George SMITH married age 39 occupation Tramp Master born Kingsclere Mary Ann SMITH wife age 39 occupation Tramp Matron Any ideas what their occupation was, none of the other Workhouses staff, has this occupation.
