This looks like being good value for money at £23.10. Some months ago I purchased the 1851 fiche for Newbury, Thatcham & Bradfield at cost of £19.65 so for a further £4 you get the whole county. The fiche are however very easy to use and have a name index as well as the 'as enumerated' format and, dare I say it as an HGS member, a big improvement on the HGS 1851 Census index. Berks FHS website says the CD requires the M$ Windows OS but since the data is in Adobe pdf format anyone with a suitable version of Acrobat Reader should be able to view the data What won't work on non-windows systems is the search facility Barbara described. You can still use the search facility in Acrobat to find names but this is not be as specific as the search engine included on the CD. -- John Lewis <jayellatntlworlddotcom> from Bournemouth, Dorset, UK. using Debian GNU/Linux and GeneWeb genealogy software
