Therein lies the problem - there is no suitable William or Ann Hiscock (Hedgecock or Hitchcock) nor any Waite in Kingsclere in 1851 or in surrounding parishes listed in the HGS 1851 Index vols 9 & 10. Nor can I find Charles & Ann Waite in the 1881 census (Greater London West CD) other than a Charles age 42 born Bradfield, builder living in Reading. His age would make him too young to be married in 1857 and still be described as of full age. No birth place is given for this Ann. The National Index isn't any real help either (not that I am much of an expert at using the 1881 census disks) > Witnesses are Thomas CANNINGS and Charlotte HISCOCK (own handwriting) > 23 July 1857 These don't appear in Kingsclere in 1851 either! -- John Lewis <jayellatntlworlddotcom> from Bournemouth, Dorset, UK. using Debian GNU/Linux and GeneWeb genealogy software
