    3. Hello all Having spent sometime trying to sort out the HISCOCK/HITCHCOCK/HEDGECOCK families, one of the loose ends I was left with was William HITCHCOCK who married Charlotte SMITH at St Mary's, Kingsclere 19th October 1840. Could SKS please provide the full register entry for this marriage please They had three children baptised at St Mary's John 1838 George 1841 Sarah 1843 and a fourth Dorcas who I believe was baptised at St Paul's, Woodlands in 1846. These baptisms all seem to use the name HEDGECOCK. The 1851 census index indicates that John, George, Sarah and Dorcas (appears as Darkness!) are all in the household of Charles HEDGECOCK and his wife Jane (nee APPLEFORD), Charles was born abt 1810 in Tadley. I also have a note of two births from the IGI to a William and Ann HISCOCK/HEDGECOCK an Ann HEDGECOCK 7th March 1833 and a John HISCOCK 19th August 1835, both give Kingsclere as birthplace but I don't have baptism dates to confirm the validity of these two. My suspicions are: 1) That the William married to Ann later married Charlotte SMITH, perhaps following the death of Ann possibly in childbirth. 2) William died between 1848 and 1851, and Charlotte was working away when the census was taken, given the number of variations on this surname she could well be in Kingsclere in 1851 but is just not identifiable. 3) Charles HEDGECOCK was William's brother, and took in Charlotte and the children following the death of William. Charles was the son of Jeremiah and Sarah HISCOCK/HEDGECOCK baptised at Tadley 8th July 1810. If anyone can throw any light on this complicated family I would be most grateful.
