Hello all Thanks for posting this Barbara, just to say that unfortunately Roland HIRST died a few years ago but I do have a very crude copy of the tree he had researched if anyone wants a copy let me know. It was Roland's research that helped me a great deal in the early days of my researching the GIRDLER's in Kingsclere, although I have subsequently found some minor errors in his findings. One error is that John GIRDLER/GURDLER married Anne Struthers Tannock TEMPLETON in NZ not Anne STRUTHERS if anyone has an interest, in this particular branch of the GIRDLER tree, I have more information and also a contact email for a living descendant in NZ. Hello Colin and All, Roland HIRST wrote in the February 1995 HGS Magazine :- In 1666 six members of the GIRDLER family died of smallpox at Petersfield. Roland HIRST produced the "GIRDLEY and GIRDLER Gazette". He was a Priest in charge of eight parishes in the Diocese of Carlisle. His finding include the GIRDLER of Kingsclere and Swallowfield, who have connection with the JEWELL'S family.
