    1. The Kewells of Kingsclere
    2. Further to yesterday's posting Colin has very kindly found a reference to a possible burial for Jane Kewell nee Tidbury wife of William. There is a burial for Jane Kervell on 15th August 1815 age 32 which seems to fit. Colin has also suggested that it might be William Kewell the father rather than William Kewell the son who was the widower who married Sarah Tidbury and I think that he may well be right. If this theory is correct then William Kewell senior would have married his son-in-law's sister (Sarah Tidbury was the sister of the David Tidbury who married William's daughter Phoebe Kewell). Jane Tidbury and Sarah Tidbury are not close relations but are probably cousins by some remove. I now need to check the 1851 Ecchinswell census when I get the chance to visit the Berkshire FHS in the hope that I might be able to untangle all these Kewells. It's all getting very complicated so I hope that all made sense! Best wishes Debbie

    3. Hello Debbie and All, I have an interest in the surname of KERVIL/KEWELL/KEARVEL. My daughter-in-laws father is a KEAVELL, together with a guy called Mike KEARVELL they have done a one name study on the name, this is the information that I sent to Mike. The marriage of Edward HOLLEY and Martha MAJOR 18 May 1873 at Kingsclere, Hampshire, the witnesses were John and Fanny KEIRVELL. Edward is my 1st cousin 5 times removed, could the MAJOR family be related to John and Fanny KEIRVELL ? It all depends on how the Vicar spelt the surname, somewhere they are all related, could they be linked into your family tree.
