John, Many thanks for your latest. I have some source material which may confuse things even more!! A marriage Cert. August 17 1842, Basingstoke, Joseph Savery, full age, batchelor,Shoemaker, father James Savery, Gamekeeper. Hannah Goddard, a minor, spinster, no occupation, father John Goddard, Labourer. Witnesses- Ann Edwards Savery, Henry Savery ( I assumed these to be his mother & brother, but no proof yet) Also a birth Cert of:- Ann Savery born 4/12/1843 at Kingsclere, Mother, Hannah Goddard Savery Father, Joseph Savery ( Tailor) The Registrar was Henry Dale ( for anyone researching Dale's) The references to her birth in a couple of places in Gloucestershire are confusing. Most of us manage only one birthplace!! We have a family diary recording Ann's arrival in Warwickshire at the home of her uncle Richard Savery in abt 1862. Richard was a son of James senior, and also born in Withington. I have no idea where she was between 1851 census ( the 7 yr old with grandfather & Uncle Henry?) Back to John ( b 1811) - Ann Rebecca was a daughter from a previous marriage to Rebecca Ann Emmans ( see IGI) There were still Emmans in Kingsclere in the 1851 index. Caroline was a Buckeridge. I am in contact with her gt gt grandaughter who has documentation on her. Isaac Buckeridge was the local carrier & I think Carolines father. Thanks for your help.
