All births, marriages and deaths to be registered with the civil Registrars and returns submitted to the Registrar General. Penalties from 1875. Commission appointed to call in all non-parochial registers. 1840 Non-parochial Registers Act: surrendered registers of non-conformists deposited in the General Register Office.
