I seem to recall someone has Burghclere Parish Register fiche and wonder if they could do some lookups for a correspondent of mine who is not on this list. So far all I have for this name is Sarah Challis Born ca 1720, Burghclere. Died in September 1797 - Coombe, Wilts Married on 22 September 1741, Sherborne St. John., Hants, to Henry Baggs 1716-1784, with Henry 1745-1807 William ca 1755 The 1851 census index for Burghclere has the following (possible) family Thomas 42 born Bambury?, Wilts Mary 30 b. Highclere John 16 b. Burghclere Isaac 13 b. B'clere Elizabeth 11 born Whitchurch, Hants Jane 9 b. B'clere Martha 6 b. B'clere Henry 3 b. B'clere Thomas 4 mths b. B'clere What we are after is confirmation that Mary is the wife of Thomas and mother of the (some?) of the children listed, date of marriage and name of a previous wife as it looks from the info she may be a second wife. Ron Challis is descended from Isaac Challis who married Eliza Vince of Ecchinswell in 1858. He gave his age as 21 when he married so it looks like he could be the 13 year old listed above.
